RERA Registration: What to Actually Check Before You Book

Published 2 Jun 2026· By Rohan Kapoor

Every advertisement for a registered project is required to carry its RERA registration number under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. That number is a starting point for verification, not a substitute for it.

Before relying on a registration number shown on any listing, it's worth checking it directly on the relevant state RERA authority's website, where the project's approved plan, promised timeline and any complaints filed against it are a matter of public record.

Where a listing shows no registration number, it should be treated as provisional — the project may be genuinely pending registration, but that status should be confirmed before any commitment is made.
